Richard Cook LBIPP has been a professional photographer since 1983 when he began as an in-house man for the Church of England.

Apart from weddings, his other big passions are portrait and commercial photography and he tries to add a high level of originality into all forms of the genres.

I was born in Manchester in 1961 - a vintage year! I attended Stretford Grammar School 1972 - 1979. I left and worked for 2 years at Wall’s factory in Godley, Hyde. In 1981 I started a degree in Politics and History at Preston Polytechnic (now grandly titled the University of Central Lancashire).

I graduated in 1984, and did a variety of jobs until moving to Doncaster to study a postgrad diploma in Personnel Management in 1986. The following year I moved to Bromley to become a Personnel & Training Officer for Bromley Health Authority. In 1989 I joined the BBC and became a specialist HR professional concentrating on Job Evaluation and related issues. My job title changed many times in the following 18 years - though my job didn’t (my level of responsibility did).

In 2006, I left the BBC largely due to the fact that I had become very tired of commuting to W12 from my home in West Malling where I have lived since 2000. I had to decide what to do having left the corporate world - but I knew it wasn’t going to be HR related! And I knew I had to enjoy it - which ultimately ...

I am a mobile portrait photographer. I specialise in taking photos of family and friends in your home or nearby locations. I like to give your photos that personal touch by taking photos in familiar locations where you can be at your happiest and most comfortable. MY TRAINING

Darren started out his career as a Garden Designer, through this he unveiled the world of photography using it to photograph and identify plants and using images to create montages of virtual gardens.

During Darren’s training as a designer he became a professional model, represented by 3 agencies, MWM-UK, True Model Media and Fresh Agents Ltd. Using this to his advantage he quickly become accustomed with what the photographers around him were doing, and so his skills as a photographer grew.

In 2011 Darren was awarded his Licentiateship from the Royal Photographic Society. For the past 2 years he has taught photography and digital retouching at 2 photographic societies in the South London Federation. Darren has done some training with children in schools and now regularly holds one to one training sessions at his studio in Erith, Kent.
